Seriously considering buying one. Anyone got any pics of one in place in a Chim that has the ali dial surrounds (mine's a 98)with a dark upper and light lower part to the dash. I know this has been done before but I couldn't open the pics in the search. Any disadvantages to the leven dash ?
Very grateful - thanks.

Why dont you just strip off the veneer on the old one and polish it up and then lacquer it - thats what i did on my old Chimaera.

I did the job over a weekend, all in all it probably took 5 hours total work time but I let the glue set overnight and was a bit anal about labelling every single wire & doing a schematic of each dial.

Personally I found the hardest part was the heater control part as you need to be careful around the LED's, luckily all was OK with a bit of patience.

Locating the dash bolts was also a bit tricky, but once you find them they are straightforward with a bit of contortion. Surprisingly the right hand bolt was the easiest one once you are positioned right (I crouched down by the offside (door open obviously) & curled my left arm into the cavity. I also found removing the dash top was much harder than putting it back on.

Unfortunately next car needs to be a 4 seater due to needing to ferry around a relatives kids (long & boring story) & also freeing up some cash for a project so a Cerb isn't in the picture. An M3 may provide the pace, but I will miss the fun of the Chim

The purple dials were in the car from new I understand. They probably look a bit odd because you can't see in those pictures how they match the body and trim-detail colour.

But if you really don't like them I don't mind. It's me that looks at them every time I drive, not you.
