Little Black Boxes

I mentioned "little black boxes" last week on this forum in relation to another subject.
Here goes again.
The government proposes to require all of us to have these devices installed in our vehicles ( at our expense of course ) to monitor use for road charging.
This will mean that the "authorities" will know for ALL of us
1.What time we leave on a journey.
2.Where we go.
3.What speed we drove at.
4.What time we arrived etc. etc.
Any views/comments on this ?

It will be political suicide and there is no need. If road tolls to become a reality, which they will, pricing will be calculated on the use of major roads using a smart card system.

Can you imagine Liberty's reaction to black boxes?

And toll roads won't mean they'll be able to establish the following ?

1.What time we leave on a journey.
2.Where we go.
3.What speed we drove at.
4.What time we arrived etc. etc.

Maybe they won't be able to establish exactly what time you started and finished your journey. But as far as points 2 & 3 are concerned it's only a matter of time before this information will be used in a speeding prosecution.

You want decent roads, you'll have to pay for them..................... seemingly over and over again.

Fuel Tax

Road tax

Insurance tax

Speeding Tax (sorry, safety Tax)

And now if you want to use the road itself...... Toll Tax
