Paul Smith quoted on New York Times website
Discussion
I got a nice interview for CBS TV news (main evening news and rolling news) out of it, and I got 'quotation of the day' in the New York Times too with:
"We've got a nation of people who have one eye looking out for the next speed camera, another looking for a speed limit sign and another looking at the speedometer - which is a bit of a shame, when you only have two eyes."
Currently on: www.nytimes.com/pages/todayspaper/index.html
(And the item is on the front page of the international edition of the New York Times)

That quote stood out when reading the text earlier today. Very catchy.

article said:
In another case, John Hopwood, a motorist from Stockport who was caught speeding twice in one trip by two different cameras, tried to avert the second ticket by taking a 40 m.p.h. sign from a road in Manchester and reinstalling it on a 30 m.p.h. road in Rochdale, 10 miles away. He was caught and sentenced to 56 days in jail.
Just read the article, and this bit stuck out. Obviously we don't know the in's and out's of the case but seems a pretty excessive sentence don't you think?
I watched an episode of road wars the other night where a guy stole a Celica, drove like a loon, rammed a cop car, knocked a bike cop off his bike and reversed into him (which IMHO should be attempted murder) and rammed a driving school car. And what was his sentence for theft, damaging three cars and endangering the life of a police officer, 20 months inside and a six month ban!
Can we please have a political party that will actually change things for the better instead of Tony Blair and Tony Blair version 2.0!
