If so and I don't know why I'm asking here since the majority are men, but any hints, tips on keeping it clean and sparkly. I've only just recently had it installed and I'm struggling to clean it to my high standards. Whatever I try keeps smearing... any help would be appreciated but I won't hold my breath.

www.agacookshop.co.uk/

Go to "Aga Accessories" - the enamel cleaner is there for £2.95 a pot.

We had one -- used standard cleaning stuff day-to-day, though careful not use abrasives, and the occasional special Aga-specific stuff from the Aga shop which removes all sorts of gunk. Can't remember its name off-hand but it worked.

See, blokes aren't totally useless...

I'll pause from worrying that you're way too young to be worrying about keeping an AGA clean to recommend Astonish Household Cleaning Paste. Available at John Lewis and Lakeland, small tub lasts for ages.
Edited to add: it's exactly the same as the Aga stuff-Astonish make that for them.

18 months ago, I promised my wife that we would get a new AGA, we went to look at them, priced everything up, and done an outline plan of the kitchen ready to accomadate one.
All was going well, untill a visit to Castle's one saturday afternoon. Result, New tamora and No aga
Just as we were about to start to think about one again, TVR bring out the T350 at the motorshow.Well, no contest really, deposit placed for a T350t.
My wife is now wondering whether she will ever get one now and has banned me from going to this years motorshow. better keep her away from reading this thread

We've got one - its usually covered in cooked on grease, apart from when Dad sprays the whole thing with Mr Muscle oven cleaner, can't be healthy to inhale that volume of caustic vapour...

The paintwork is dead easy to clean, as has been mentioned.. Metal plates and so on best done with a stiff wire brush. As long as you don't burn things on too much, they stay reasonable, but will rapidly turn black and will stay like that.. The inside is a pain; can't use Mr Muscle type things as these can only be used on cold ovens, not a good idea on hot ones.. Once a yeat it will need a service, switch off and colld down; thats the time to attack it if you need to..

Thanks for that, wouldn't want to ruin before I've had it 3 months It is the top of the aga that I'm most picky about though, but I think thats just it, I'm too picky, I guess its never going to look like its just been fitted again.

We have the big old 4 oven jobby in something like British racing green (de rigeur for North Yorks farmhouses). Mrs B has told me that she would not consider living in a house without one in the future. It certainly keeps the kitchen toasty warm all year round and makes wonderful bread.

You have to clean it!

I'd always assumed things like that cleaned themselves. Perhaps it is one of the mysterious things Mrs B does when I'm out chasing the hard earned quid. She did tell me it wasnt all girlie lunches etc.. but I had my doubts until now.

Mrs F, welcome to the worlds best by a long way toaster. There is nothing, not one appliance, even a Dualit that can compare to Aga toast. Get a rack ASAP!

Dont know how to keep it clean though, gardens and cars are my department!

Matt.

Yes you have to clean it. Mine is dark blue, I love it, its my first aga but I already wouldn't be without it. Its just keeping the thing clean thats the problem. I want a smear free top, I'm not too bothered about inside.....yet!

Just don't use a brush on the enamel or you'll ruin it for life.

And I'm with you on the toast!
