I was just curious. It is quite around here. I was watching a video of a guy in a 911 and it was a thrilling ride. It would be great to see an in car cam of an Ultima being piloted close to the limit there. Going through the carousel would be awsome. Then there's that Gemballa porker with some record time printed on it's side, I wonder how a gtr would do?

In the mean time has anyone take there car there? Is it a long trip to get there?

No, and it depends where you start from

Took an STI there 2 yrs ago. Another driver managed to spin my car and just clipped the armco. While I was there (on an easter weekend) there were over 12 cars involved in crashes mostly with armco but also fastercars hitting slower ones. On average one person a week dies at the ring (although they are mostly bikers). When I was there I exited a bend to see a cosworth on its roof.....another time a biker lying unconcious.

It is a very very difficult track to drive with only a meter or two of grass before the armco. Due to the crests and blind bends someone that knows the track in a diesel golf would be quicker than an Ultima with a ring novice driving IMHO.

On the other hand it is an awesome experience (why else would people risk their beautiful cars). Some of the bends are amazing, and there is a straight over a mile long. One minute you can be alone, and the next have a full race spec Snitzer BMW bearing down on you. Cars racing on the sunday at the nurburgring race track will commonly put on road tyres and dive round the norschleif (spelling?) track for fun.

I don't mean to put people off but I would only suggest experienced track drivers attempt it in an Ultima. If you do go then I suggest you have someone lead you round for the first few laps(it is much safer). It is certainly an experience I would reccommend to any dedicated track driver.

a good site for further info is Bens:

and the people from scoobynet are going in easter:

A little hard to get mine across the pond to N ring, but I am going to take the Ultima GTR to Road America, a 4.2 mile course in the rolling hills of Wisconsin. It's the longest road course in North America.

BTW, tell me when anyone decides to go to the Ring, I have an aquaintance that can arrange a test report in the Gemran sport auto magazine if someone is willing to leave his car in the hands of chief editor Horst von Saurma, a well experienced driver who is doing all the superstest at the Ring.
He will do some testing of the new Dauer 962LM and EBN110 Supersport on the Ring.
