Hi people,

Has anyone ever participated in a paintball event? Whats your overall views on this? Do you think there is a demand for such activites?

The reason I ask is I have been approached by a friend of mine with a proposal to turn some land in Scotland I have access to into a Paintball area.

It sounds like fun and I'm told the biggest market is in the corporate entertainment area but I have never actually heard of any companies using such services.

Money maker or drainer?

Cheers,
Deester

Great fun!!!!

Hurts like hell though!

ETA: I have done 3, two were organised by the company I worked for as corperate team building etc etc and the other was a stag party ( I was an honorary bloke to make up numbers)

Great fun, very popular, you can make a kiling if done right. Average cost per person per day is around 50 quid upwards. Saftey is very important so there will be regulations to work to.

Paintball is fantastic, I try and go whenever I can but the only problem is finding enough people to go with me as it can be very expensive especially when you have semi-automatic guns I spent around £50 just on bullets last time I went

Great fun though

Give it a modern topical political slant and advertise it as "CarWars".

Encourage pro-car and anti-car groups to 'sort it out'.

Fantastic fun... and a good laugh. Good for team building and venting frustrations...

Usually quite expensive for what it is... so if you can undercut others, then you'd be onto a winner.

There are quite a few markets out there - corporate entertainment, comapny rewards / team building, students (especially those who have just done their finals!), stag events...

Regs will probably be tight (or should be!)... and people need to realise the dangers, but other than that...

From person experience, the landscape makes a huge difference... and if you can add "zones" then it's more fun... things like woodland.. "urban themes" like wooden buildings to go in and out of... you'd need to be inventive... maybe "capture a bridge" or something...

Podie, I have 200 acres off mixed woodland, hills, streams, bogs so I think the terrain would be perfectly suited.

Thoroughly love paintball - haven't been for a couple of years though. As long as the proposed site is accessable it should make a killing.

Possibly consider digging a Trench complex in the site for "capture the Flag" events. Doesn't need to be massive, but the close quarters element is really good fun and certainly gets the heart pumping: Stick head round corner, sh*t yourself, duck back, gun around corner, start blazing away, head round corner again, shot in head, OW! Classic entertainment.

Paint balling is good fun

Been to quite a few. I Have to agree that the most expensive bit is the ammo

Have you also heard/looked into Airsoft? Thats seems to be taking off quite well. Its like paint ball but these using plastic ball bearings instead, along with life like guns.

I dont have any links to the sites at work but after a bit off a look on google, heres a few

www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/beta/html/
www.airsoftadventures.ndirect.co.uk/
www.dragonvalley.co.uk/
www.airsoftmap.co.uk/ (good list of all Airsoft Sites)
www.airsoftclub.co.uk/

If I can find better ones I'll post them.

The site is 2 1/2 hours drive from Glasgow where I think the corporate people would come from. There are other towns with fairly large companies closer by. The proposal i received mentioned making it into a weekend course, not sure if that would be feasible though.

Thanks for that 8ball. With the airsoft stuff, how do you know when someone has been hit? Without the big paint mark on them?

Wooden Chalets? Or would that be too much? I have often thought that "Corporate entertainment" such as paintball, sportscar days etc, would be really good as a weekend, but I haven't found anything yet. Would be good for Stag do's etc as well. Make sure there's a bar!!

Dam good fun, hurts like hell, but makes you feel like a kid again playing cowboys and indians, but at least this way their is no dispute that you have been shot.

Last time I did it, I was shot in the neck it hurt for a long time.

There is a hotel (with a bar, yes) on the boundary of the land... So an all weekend event would certainly be possible.

Once set up invite the great and the good of Transport 2000, Ken Livingstone and David Begg. A PH team can be put together and I'll sort out the real guns for our team.

Edited to say add that Brainstorm chappy from north wales to the opposition team.
