More ill informed journalism with outdated stereotypes, emotive language and 'statistics'...
If it wasn't so pathetic I'd laugh..

Richard Porter was bang on the money with his "Lynd Neilon" piece. The fact that the real Neil Lyndon got so cross about it afterwards only showed, in my opinion, that he'd hit a raw nerve.
Key feature of article - "Overtaking on brow of hill". That's the problem, not solely the speed. If the message of the past few years had been the somewhat wordy, "Not being able to stop in the distance you can see will remain clear kills!" we might have something other than this kind of weak propaganda-to-pen journalism, and possibly even better road safety statistics than we have now.
The problem we have is, speed is usually a contributory (secondary) factor - how would two stationary objects collide? - but there's something else, usually significant and stupid, that actually caused the accident.
