Hi all
Just bought a 147 2.0, and find the 5-speed box gear selection to be ponderous to say the least; the gap across gate is huge (in 1st and 2nd I have my hand on the passengers leg), and even in gear the play on the stick is laughable. This car replaces a JTD 156 Sportwagon which had a 6-speeder and was sweet as a nut. I thought the 6-speeder would be a 5 with a cog tacked on, but its chalk and cheese.

Is there something wrong or is there a quickshift kit available somewhere??

Totally different gearbox, and yes the change is somewhat long shall we say!

Send me an email I produce a quickshift among other Alfa products (sorry I don't want to abuse Ted's hospitality advertising on here)

You need to get your linkages checked. They go like that.

What mileage would that happen at? this has only done 26K (2003) or does it depend on "use"?

Use really. Had some that I thought were in neutral which were actually in 1st gear...
