Lighting upgrades/pod changes

Just wondering who offers what with regards to changing the lights in the pods for more up to date ones, such as the SP12 or Tuscan conversions, but still under the cowling. Since my jaunt up the country and back down in horrible weather I do feel the need to get better lights. I don know about the modwise kit and plan to get one, but I have seen a griff with the projector lights under the cowlings and was wondering who did what.

For me it's purely an aesthetics reason. I like the look of them on the LEs and Seasiders (hello matey ) truck looks so much better with them too

I'm also thinking about the HID conversion while I am at it - as well as sorting out the crappy heater but thats another story I'm sure.

The only concern about the 7" + HID conversion is light scatter, which we've seen discussed on another thread and which doesn't seem to be an issue on the standard lights. Does anyone recon 7" lights on their own, with these new super bright bulbs, will be enough of an improvement to warrant not taking the risk of becoming a mobile lighthouse?

The point being that HID are not legal, unless they are self levelling and have a wash wipe system, sad but its the way it is.

How did they get away with it on the Tuscan 's' then?I didn't *think* they were self levelling,and they certainly didn't have a wash wipe!

Dynno, i pitty the first person to come "un-stuck", no insurance etc etc, doesnt bare thinking about !! Anyway, its not me its the "dept of transport" who say they are illegal.

So perhaps I'll rely on Philips bulbs and 7" headlights then.

Any chance of getting my hands on your brighter lights kit? Especially as I keep getting billed for it LOL.

I would go with HID if I could get it legally and at a good price, but I was just wondering what was available.

As for the crap heater I would definitely be up for a better one. Got into my mate's new chim the other day and his heater is markedly better than mine. So either mine's broken or just rubbish.

7" LE light thread

The 7" lights are massive improvement especially when combined with independent power to each light & 50%+ bulbs I really don’t think HID is required as well.

Sorry Oggs, I was "that road out" yesterday and determined to wind somebody up. I tried it on the How Many Names Does Your Cat Have thread on P&P but nobody bit

Thanks Seasider and Reeso, that's the HID idea dumped then and back to the original 7" conversion plan.
I'll be talking to Ian at Sportmotive (again) and see what we (well, that will be mostly him ) can do to convert original pods because I recon there's a decent business opportunity for him if it can be done.

Hmmmmm I'll have to look into the 7" conversion. After I upgraded the lights on my S3 they were fine, but driving along the other day at dusk I was asked:
"Do you have your lights on?"
"Yes"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes"
"Are they working?"
"I think so. Do you see that small patch that is a little lighter the left over there?"
"Sort of..."
"That's the lights."
"They really are s**t!"
"Yep."

This conversation is getting a little tired now as well.

Not sure what bulbs they fitted, but I had my Griff modified to a Speed 12 set up at TVR Body Shop down near Bristol. Made a huge difference to nighttime visibility.

They also did a superb job of the body work, replacing the front and back lights, so I'd recommend them if you go ahead and do the conversion.

Have some pic's but don't know how to post them on here I'm afraid - bit backward on the technology front. Could e-mail them if you're interested.

Ian,I think Ian is going to be supplying a kit, prepainted to you car colour, rather than re-use the old pods..

Give him a call is probably best.
