Hi guys,
Just popped over to this forum to see if anyone can shed some light on a watery problem.
My wife drives a '98 Alfa GTV which has a factory sunroof. Sometimes after heavy rain you can hear water swooshing around somewhere in the car, it's a job to trace exactly where the noise is coming from, but I suspect the sunroof is not sealing as well as it should, and water is getting in.
The question is, does any water that gets in through the sunroof seal have an exit route through any drainage channels? If so, how can I access them to see if they are blocked?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Derek

If the AR sunroof was leaking, I'd expect you to get wet heads; the design is such that the roof slides outside the car rather than into a cavity, so I'd guess there's nowhere for leaked water to collect.

Could be a blocked drain from the a/c, that's quite common. Does the watery noise sound like its coming from the passenger side dash?

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the reply, no air con fitted so can't be that. The noise does seem to be coming from the cabin, not near the dash or forward of it. It's intermittent so hard to trace it's source. I have checked the doors in case there was a blocked drain hole, but they're fine.
Bit of a mystery confused !!

I had this problem on my GTV. Your drain holes and blocked!!
If you recline your sunroof you will see four small holes in each corner of the recess. I cleared mine out with some Mr Muscle drain cleaner and a wire coat hanger. Trust me it works.
Anouther sign of this is a 'gurgerling' when pulling away during heavy rain
For any other advice pop over to www.sportsalfa.com were a helpful bunch.
