Main Beam

My full beam & parking lights work, but the main beam does not. One of the pins on one of the relay units in the boot has burn't, do you think this is the cause or effect of a further problem? I've only had this car for three days, handbreak bust, lights don't work, but driving in the light and avoiding parking on steep inclines makes me smile so much I'm having to take paracetamols for the ache in my cheeks due to the stupid permanent grin.

Most definately. Same happened to mine. Steve_T, for the price of a cuppa, cut, spliced and soldered me a nice new connection. No problems since

Thats a very common thing. Just replace the connector in the boot, or better still open up the box, and make more permanent connections with spade connectors or terminal strip etc.

Learnt something about the burnt out wires problem through a similar issue on alternator wiring for my bike. Crimp connectors need to be soldered to stop them getting hot. I'll try to dig out a link later.

Definately the cause.

Lights fixed. It was a dry joint on the circuit board that had caused the wire to overheat. I have soldered the dry joint, replaced the wire and connectors. Thanks again for the advice, it really helped.
