Warden puts ticket on written-off car
A traffic warden has been sent for retraining after ticketing a car written off in a road crash.
The warden ticketed the Vauxhall Corsa as it sat facing the wrong way on a dual carriageway in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.
It had been pushed there after the crash by firefighters so traffic could move freely.
The driver, Sue Hamer, had been taken to hospital with injuries to her neck, back and fingers, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The ticket was issued because the car was "parking in a restricted area".
Sue's husband Ian was shocked when he went to collect the car after visiting her in hospital and saw the ticket. "I couldn't believe it because the damage to the car was so clear and it was facing the wrong way on the dual carriageway. I don't think the best driver in the world could have parked it in the position it was in."
Trafford Council, which employs NCP to enforce parking regulations, has cancelled the ticket and the warden has been sent for retraining. A spokesman said: "The parking attendant has had a meeting with his bosses and it has been pointed out to him that he made a mistake."
