If this should be in Computers, please feel free to move !

I am re-thinking our DR plan. Before - our site was in Bahamas but really this is a bit of a falacy as the link from here to Bahamas are a pain in the arse, unless it's via a private Jet. In the event of a disaster - most likely a Hurricane, the changes of getting a jet are slim to none. Added to that is the possibility of storms hitting all three islands in a small space of time and it doesn't paint a pretty picture. Hence I'm looking at an alternate site in the UK as opposed to the Carribean area..

Reason being that all the Islands have good access to the UK (All direct flights) and basically because infrastructure costs (compared to all the islands) are much lower. So - anyone know of anywhere decent within 30 mins of Gatwick that offer secured hosting ? I don't need anything big, enough space for 4 terminals (Trade, Back Office, Broker and IT) plus enough room for a full rack, 4 lines, fax line and a min 1Mb connection. Any pointers you could give would be much appreciated !

Not sure about DR offices there, but do you have any jobs? hehe

Have you considered Cardiff? The BT Elinia site is VERY well regarded in Cardiff and has some whopping feed and security. Its near to the airport, but don't know whether you can fly ther without changing?

Add to that, I know additionally somewhere perfect if you didn't want the prices of BT...

Cardiff would be good - But all flights from the Islands land in London, hence we really need somewhere close to Gatwick for this to be worthwhile. Is there anything like that in London ?

Nathan - Yep - Heathrow would be good, as both flights from Cayman and Bahamas go into Heathrow anyway..

Cheers

Consider what the various exclusion zone sizes are for london in the event of a threat. It's very possible that all these sites in and around london will be inaccessible if you're invoking for something that is of worldwide effect.

We've private suites in two Premier Docklands (E14) Facilities, we're used by a few Institutions / IB's for Tertiary DR, is E14 too far away for you?

The Banking regulators will not permit bank DR sites inside the M25. Of course, this might not apply to Bermudan banks ...
