After reading Sleep Envy's post on Saturday I decided to take out my 3.2
Disconnected the battery, and gave it a nice slow charge.
Fired him up, and off we went.
Took the car out for an hour, lovely weather grabbed a nice hot latte in
Beckenham, lovely.
Because I disconnected the battery, the CD required a code input.
Do you think I could remember it ?
Cleverly I had stored the number under " Becker Decode" in my mobile.
Stupidly I dropped the phone in the field out the back of my gaff, and lost it forever.
Even more stupidly I locked the Mexico up by trying 3 different 4 figure combinations, which were all wrong. I was convinced on every input that it was going to be that one, ever the optimist.
It gets worse, I then found a great website where you input the serial number, and model and it tells you the code for £9.99.
So now I have the code, but the Becker just says "wait" on the display.
What do I do ?

Don't know about your particular unit, but mostly you get an increasingly long delay period before you can try again when you input an incorrect code. Do you need to leave the head unit powered on until "WAIT" disappears and then try the new code?

Do I need to leave the Becker switched on until "wait" disappears ?
You're right in saying there was an increasing length of time between previous inputs.

IIRC the wait period goes up by square... Half hour, one hour, two hours etc....

It'll probably be quicker to disconnect the battery again to get to the input prompt.

Thanks Rob,
Ive got hold of a manual, leave it plugged in, on "wait" for 60mins, then I get 3 more tries.

Hi. That website sounds very useful, please could you let me have the URL?

There are several websites that do it, however if you "Google" well you can find a bit of software to do it for you and not have to pay the £9.99 offered.

Alternatively do what I did and call the OPC with your VIN and they will tell you the code as long as it is the original stereo from the car, otherwise give them the serial of the stereo.

Did not charge me anything.
