Hi All. I've got a standard 3.6 2003 Tuscan (not sure that makes any difference) and have been trying to remove a couple of spots of blood (cut finger) that ended up on the centre consul near the heating/air con controls. I have tried soap 'n' water and some leather upholstery cleaner with no success. I thought I'd better find out what the centre consol is made of before I dive into the myriad of products that are available for getting rid of stains as it could make quite a diffence to the end result.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Have you tried Baby wipes?

Seriously. They seem to shift most things, and gentle too......

You should be able to tell if it's leather or not by comparing to the seats. Mine is fairly obviously vinyl.

It also depends on the cut of leather used. My seats are very soft and supple leather, where as the centre console is a more rugged cut and the skin grain is more pronounced. I have removed the centre console to sort a wobbly gear stick and I can conform that it is genuine leather, altho the brake and gear lever gaitors are not....these are vinyl. I have managed to remove glue stains from the leather by using leather upholstery cleaner and restorer.

If you got the build sheet with your car, you should hopefully be able to tell from that if it is full/half leather or part vinyl. The problem is that the options for TVR interiors are so infinitely bespoke.

G

Thanks for your advice. Plenty of baby wipes around at the moment! Trouble is I'm typing this from my den upstairs whilst my wife hosts a 'party' for 20 or so yummy mummy's downstairs - I'm not allowed downstairs 'til they've all gone so can't get to the tiv to try it out. A prisoner in my own home with 20 varieties of perfume wafting their way upstairs. Absolute Hell!

Have all those Yummy Mummies not gone yet?

Maybe you and the Yummy Mummies found another use for the Baby Wipes and got distracted.

i discovered only recently that 'half leather' means vinyl everything except the seats. Only full leather gets you a hide centre console.
