Another new-ish-bie

Only signed up a little bit ago - been a long time lurker. Anyway, acheived full licence a couple of years back, but what with lack of age, then Uni and stuff getting in the way, had only owned a 125. Anyhoo, a couple of months back, upgraded to first 'big' bike. Honda CBF 600 Hornet on an 05 plate, in a kinda blue colour (no pics on my laptop unfortunately, I'll upload one later). By christ it's fast
I realise to most of you, a 95bhp 600 isn't fast, but it still feels damn brisk to me for now hehe. That was all really, just a quick intro.
How long should I expect it to be before a need a litre bike?

About a week
Seriously, its probably going to be the second or third time you get the chance to really stretch its legs, and find out where the gaps in the power are, or simply get fed up of having to work the gearbox instead of being loazy and letting the torque talk.
I'm a year in and awaiting the results of a pre-purchase inspection on an SP2

Oooo nice, I like those. I also like Aprillia RSV Mille-R - someone down the road has just got one, it looks and sounds just awesome.

Hello mate, and welcome!!
Stick with the 600 for a while. I've had this conversation for ages on here, and the general concensus is that when you ride your 600 to 110% of it's (and your) ability, and you feel your "lacking" something, then go for it.
Just my opinion mind.
ps - I know where there's a cracking RSV for sale...Looked after by an absolute fanatic.

Kiwi!!! Not me mate but I did have to go out there last night to put another blanket on her. Just couldn't lay in bed thinking she was out there in the garage suffering!!!
It's still for sale if anyone is interested. www.itetc.co.uk/factory/factory.htmI lasted 3 years on a fazer 600 (similar power to your bike) before upgrading to the Falco. Didn't use all the power of the fazer on the road and certainly don't use all the power of the falco, but fancied some v-twin grunt and noise and haven't lookede back!
Your bike should keep you entertained for a while yet I'd hope, certainly make sure you have at least one full summer with it before deciding you've outgrown it. Perhaps try a track day or 2 to see what it can really do before selling it on?
Enjoy, and keep it shiny side up

Dan, firstly welcome mate and secondly get used to the 600cc for a while and as most have said possibly for a couple of years and then go for a litre bike. I had a 600cc bike for about 18 months before going onto my first litre bike and currently have a 2005 R1 which has done 24,000 miles in 18 months, it still makes me smile every time I ride it

Hi Dan
I passed my test two weeks ago and got a four year old 600 Fazer: have to say, right now I don't see any good reason to get anything else. Except I prefer the sound of v-twins. And I prefer "lazy" power to the revvy type. And it could look a little nicer I suppose. Erm, and...
Anyway, I'm quite sure your Hornet is equally fun just now, so get out and enjoy it!

Hi Dan,
I think I'll keep riding my 600 for at least 6 months, and perhaps change to a 750 or litre next year. The R6 is plenty powerful enough for me at the moment.
I'm sure there's plenty more to learn from it!
