The search for an ECU cable

Has anyone got the cable you plug into the ECU to connect it to your lap top? I need to set the throttle pots and this is the easiest way to do it as they are fiddly. I went round to my sister's boyfriend's place, who is a clever bugger and stripped out a normal serial cable and "inserted" the bare wires in the ECU plug, but since I am a bit dim, I cannot replicate his achievements.

My car is ticking over at 2000rpm and winding everyone up in traffic jams.

Has anyone got a cable for sale/ know of one?

You just buy a cable from PC world (make a very minor mod to it) and then open the ECU box and insert the cable into the plug/socket!

There is no socket inside the ECU. There is a plug coming off it which allows you to access it on mine and the plug is not a normal "D" serial cable. Also found that with the diag software I could reset active maps (whoops - now it won't idle below 1750 without dieing)

Anyone got any ideas?

That's odd, the adaptives are just that 'adaptive' so they should 'learn' the new settings very quickly, have you taken the car out for a run?

Hi !

There are different types of connections to the ECU:s. One with a serial connector inside the ECU and another version with a three pin connector outside the ECU. My friend has the later on his Cerbera 4.5. I bought a cable from Clever Trevor for my friend and it worked fine.

Can You download the maps to the PC ?

Yes, I think you probably can. Originally it would not idle unless the pots were at about 20% and then it idled at around 2000 rpm. After a few runs she now starts at 1500, goes to 2000 within 20 secs and then after a run/warm up, idles at 3000!

Time to tinker at the weekend I think.
