Your BIOS may have reset to default as well. If your PC starts doing funny things, please keep that in mind...

How does that happen as on start up a get a fault come up called csmos or something of similiar spelling, and says to continue press f1 and something has been set to default(bios Prehaps).
HAve a problem of pages not refreshing on here as when i click on a thread it shows up to a time yesterday and then i have to hit the refresh button. Then if i click on list at topto go to main page it also says yesterdays time etc,and have to refresh again.
Is this all linked??

CMOS/BIOS (not sure of acronames and exactly what each bit does-closely related though) holds information about what kind and size of disk drives you have in your PC and stuff like that. Thie start-up error might fix itself when you replace the battery. If it doesn't it's probably easy enough to do, but would be far easier sat infront of it as the menu's etc vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so trying to find someone local to you would be best.

I've had that before (clock was set to am instead of pm), it should sort itself once the clock is set.

Your BIOS is a special memory chip that holds information about your configuration. The only thing is, this chip needs a small charge going to it to hold the configuration (hence the battery). If the battery dies, then the BIOS chip "runs home to mamma" and reverts to default settings.
Pull out your MB/PC manual and have a look at BIOS setup AFTER you replace the battery. It should help you configure it properly...
The fault you are getting is probably because the BIOS has already reverted. It shouldn't have anything to do with your page caching problem, however as the BIOS is just Basic Input and Output configuration...

Page caching issue is down to the web page using the system time on your PC to put the threads in order of when they were last viewed (I think -i know I had similar problem and this was the conclusion I came to). If the clock is wrong, then posts made "virtually" in the future -after the current system time screw up the order of everything, and the newest posts appear as "yesterday (time)" in the forum.
When you sort this, tyou will probably also need to "delete files" and maybe "clear history" from the Tools->Internet Options menu. I think "Delete cookies" can be left though.
