steering rack end seals

Hi all

Finally got round to doing the steering rack seals.

Pinion seals not too much of an issue, however, how do I do the end seals? Anyone have any good ideas.

Am I right in saying the axial joint/track rod part unscrews from the rack itself?

BTW I got the seals from Greenwich Power Steering services. Very helpful and sent the seals and 2 gaitors in the post. Speak to Paul.

Yes the track rod ends unscrew from the track rods and the track rods unscrew from the rack gear. Unless you have the special gear to do and test this yourself I wouldn't bother!

I tried this, thought I was really clever, but when you put it all back together it's almost impossible to reassemble without nicking the seals fitted to each end of the inner rack.

Just a small nick in the seal and it will left oil through. I gave up in the end and had it replaced properly.
