And the 5D is 6 months older than the 30D - shouldn't that be replaced first or do you think they've been targeting a market that doesn't exist with that one so there's no money to be had in replacing it?

I've always thought of my 30D as a 20d with frills. ie, we're still in the 20d lifecycle which has been a long one, and a good one! Some people were surprised when the 30d was anounced as a 30D, and not a 20DmkII. Id guess a 40d is up next. As Rob says, the 5D has its place as an entry level model for those who want full frame. I dont really know, but I got the impression the market for full frame did exist, for those 10/20d shooters who were previously shooting full frame film, and felt the 5D was the first truly adequate FF digital replacement for their old 35mm cameras.

So what features would we like to see in a 40D? Personally I feel lots, enough to warrant upgrading from the 20D.
Im sure the jump from 30-40 will be enough to warrant a 20-40 switcherooni
More interestingly, will it be a 1.6 or a 1.3 - Canon have something up their sleeve, but what is it.
