Thing is though, she's absolutely right, and that is the problem, folks who think like that are missing the point entirely.

Well I never voted for her... hehe

That said though, note the slight change in tactic though - speeding convictions rather than number of deaths..... subtle but important change there I feel. Ok, so the number of accidents in which speed was a major factor has dropped from 33% to less than 20%. The number of deaths on our roads have remained static for nearly 5 years yet they still say its a success.

I mean, personally I would regard the criminalisation of 2m+ motorists and the raising of over 1/2 a billion in fines as productive, wouldnt you?

Shame that the death rate hasnt dropped....

I find her negative emtional argument relating to being white, middle aged and middle class pretty illuminating as to her attitude on politics generally.

If you used the same language regarding other groups of people, the rest of your utterance would be drowned out in the uproar.

Not only does it put in a nutshell the PC crap that is causing so much ruin in our country, it's a cheap and pathetic trick. Never mind, I'm sure this lady will go far in the modern Labour Party. We are probably looking at our next prime minister weeping

Typical Labour IMHO. Talking a load of s***e and ignoring minor details like the truth.

Isn't she the moron who kept going on and on about public education and ended up sending her son to a £10,000 a year private school in London?

Mmmm, double standards then? Good to see that we have yet another politician we cannot trust.....

Dunno about being a moron - she is a Cambridge University
graduate.

She seems to be speaking the party line without it passing
through her brains.

I used to like some of her opinions on the late
night talk show with The Castillian and the Brillo Pad
after Question Time.

She conveniently ignores several important points: many speed limits are too low; overall KSI stats have remained static; drink-driving, driving without insurance, and other non-speed related motoring offences have increased; many drivers who pose no safety threat have been criminalised...

I could go on and on. I hope someone (Paul Smith?) is writing a well-reasoned reply to the Standard.

I haven't seen her on TV for quite a long time, but she used to have an irritating habit of closing her eyes while she was speaking. That always made me feel that her attitude was:

"This is what I'm going to tell you, and it's correct beyond question, and I don't want to hear any counter arguments from anybody." Not only closed eyes, closed mind too.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

It's perfectly possible to be a Cambridge University graduate and be a moron at the same time.
It's also possible to be a Cambridge University graduate and have little common sense.
It's also possible to be a Cambridge University graduate and have little knowledge.

Trust me, I resemble most of those statements.

"white, male, middle class and middle aged . . ."

That's the fighting shout of the pig ignorant (which looking at her is about right !) . . . by voting numbers the middle aged, middle class, white, male is vastly outnumbered by the ignorant, the work shy and the fat lazy bastards.

What was her degree? A science degree or Mathematics somehow seem unlikely given the comments.
