Can anyone tell me if this move is fairly seamless or does it involve a huge amount of grief and periods of no-broadband to acheive?

thanks,

Further to my previous (somewhat short) response:

BBC News Website said:
Carphone's broadband costs grow

Strong demand for Carphone Warehouse's broadband offer means the retailer's initiative will cost it £20m more than originally expected.
The firm has had problems dealing with what it said was "unprecedented" consumer reaction to the new service.

It has received 625,000 applications for its integrated phone and broadband offer since April but 200,000 broadband customers still remain unconnected.

....

The firm said it had improved its customer service after initial problems and that new broadband customers were now waiting five weeks, on average, to be connected.
Its cheap, I'll say that for it. But, caveat emptor.

I wouldn't spit on Talk Talk if they were on fire.

3 weeks on and I'm still waiting for a response to my complaint letter. Needless to say I have moved all my services onto another supplier.

Talk Talk blame their bad service on unprecedented demand. However when they used the tactics they used to get people to sign up it's a wonder the whole country wasn't signed over.

Two lads knock at the door and tell me that my phone line will soon be upgraded and how I would need to sign a few forms to get the benefits of cheaper calls. I notice the Talk Talk logo on the clipboard and tell them I wasn't interested. This happens another 2 times over the next few months, each time using the "your line has/will be upgraded" pitch and once I was told I would have to sign the form to confirm the work was done!

Wouldn't trust them at all.

Avoid.

Guy in the office bought a new property in August. Signed up, and got a phone (working) within a week. We're now in November and he STILL doesn't have broadband. Their excuse is that the BB access is FREE, and therefore they are meeting their contractual obligation and will get round to sorted his BB for him in due course... banghead

I'm with BT. I phoned up recently and said, "like the service but you're uncompetitive, don't really want to move, but I will for financial common sense"

Result? £5 a month knocked off, increased line speed from 2MB to 8MB, increased allowance from 20GB to 40GB (never imposed anyway!), BT Home hub, Home Hub Phone, 250 BT Openzone minutes a month for a year (for wireless stuff out an about)... oh, and ZERO hassle.

Happy Pod.

BT are really really good for effective service, that being a decent 'pipe' to your house. I never had a problem with them but their prices were always too high for me.

I agree, they're not the cheapest. However, I've not a single problem... no down time either! As it's all from the same people they can't fob you off with "it's your BB supplier" who when you phone them will say "it's BT's fault"...

You pays your money, you takes your choice.

My gaff. My "old" wireless router now in place at the bosses though. Bosses BB is out of contact, so my deal can move with me.

Not too bad thanks. How about you guys? Oh, phone is reminding me to send birthday related congratulations in your direction in a few days. Must catch up soon yes

Could always give you a VOIP call this evening... also courtesy of the BT package, costing nowt extra.

Agreed, steer clear of Talk Talk, especially if you're an online gamer of any sorts.
