Hi my freinds and i are all le mans virgins and are planning to make the trip to the 2007 race we will be traveling from the north east in a convoy of about 4 cars could anyone give me info on which crossing to make and when also are there any other convoys we could meet up with cheers

To be honest, an channel crossing will serve you well. It all depends on a few choices that you have.
After your drive down from the north, you might favour Portsmouth as a good place to set sail from. Choose your crossing time to suit and you could get yourself a night boat (slower than days). This would give you the chance to get some shut eye/get leathered on the boat before the last part of the journey down to La Sarthe.
Landing in Calais/Bolougne, gives you a far longer drive, but now, fast roads as a choice.
Convoys will be pretty much everywhere - take your pick.

My group avoided the ferry altogether this year and chunnel'd it - so quick you wouldn't believe. Half of our lot set out 2 hours earlier but got the ferry, and ended up passing us on the motorway the other side (we were a bit speed limited by the massive campervan forming part of our convoy...)
