I've got a 6year old copy of Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Limited Edition which came free with my camera of the time. Now I've got a new camera, I'm thinking of upgrading to something with a bit more functionality.

Is this worth buying, or should I look for something else?

no.

If you find PS 5 doesn't give you all you need, upgrade to the latest PS. Avoid elemets. It's less than you already have - in fact it just has ... um... elements.

E bay has loads of CS1 and 2 - that's the prog to get.

Steve, mine isn't the full version PS 5, it's a 'limited edition' ie it doesn't have all the tools and features of the full version.
I thought elements might have a bit more.
Thanks for the advice. I'll ask santa for the full version

The latest version, Elements 5, now has curves in it which brings it into line with what LE had 7 years ago ! I started with Photoshop 5 LE and found that going to full Photoshop was a logical step up, wheras having looked at Elements I found it a step sideways. The Elements interface is noticeably different and I found it a bit awkward haveing to re-learn where everything was. I'd recommend going to CS2, if you enrol in a night class at your local college you'll probably qualify for a student discount on software which is well worth it !
