Had the oil and filters done on the car and it has two split rear cv boots,i s this a long job to replace? My heat shields are loose.I have been told these can be spot welded back in place, and i have RMS leak after only two years since the last one.So my question is does a specialist have to do the cv boots?

It is quite a difficult job and needs a ramp etc - on this one I would try an independent specialist.

Hi Scruffy, sorry to hear about your hassles with the car. Still worth it though isn't it!

What's the RMS leak like is it fair dripping or is there just a bit of oil around it?

Give Chris at Loebank a call he'll save you ££££s.
Although if it was me I'd get the simple stuff (CV boots heatshields etc) done at my local (and very trusted) garage. After all they're still just cars - not spaceships, and they'd be even cheaper than Loebank.

P.S. I'm currently driving around with a hartop on that's the same colour as your car. You don't happen to own a silver one you'd like to swap it for do you?! wobble

Hi Scruffy,

I'm more than happy - I agree, they really are great, athough I am missing the summer.

The hardtop is supposed to be being resprayed silver to match the car, but I just haven't got around to it yet. Still there's nobody else driving around in a two-tone Boxster.

I have just a bit of oilyness on mine but I the oil level hasn't changed since I bought it. Chris at Loe Bank said it was fine and that if it wasn't really losing anything then it was best not to fiddle with it. Those seals are notoriously tricky.

Hope you get yours sorted!

Bob.
