Le Mans

Does anyone on here go to Le Mans regularly? Do you go in your Cerb?

I've never been to the 24 hours before but I'm thinking about going next year and wondered if anyone else on the Cerb forum was going too. Unlikely that 'er indoors would be interested...not sure if that's a bonus or a down side? There's some info on the TVRCC site about Le Mans too.

Cerb for the last two years and Chim before that. The only gotcha I've ever had is how badly my standard suspension coped with a car full of kit, meaning it would ground out everywhere. With the Nitrons on it I've not had a problem since.

What do I want to know? Everything really. Days and times to travel, places to camp or stay. Best places to get a view of the track action. Social activities etc etc. If the other half doesn't want to go, which I think is more than likely, and none of my drinking buddies are interested either, I'd like to join a group who are planning on travelling in a group and staying in the same place. Not sure if any of the local TVRCC members do a regular trip as I have only recently joined (when I bought the Cerb) and haven't managed to get to a regional meeting yet due to other commitments.

I'm getting to the age where I no longer want to just think about doing things and want to actually do them, hence buying the Cerb this year and also learning to fly a plane! A trip to Le mans is in that category too and in the Cerb would be a huge bonus!

Take a long look at the Le Mans forum for the what to do and where to go stuff - there is a wealth of information about Le Mans and some top tips for fun!

Like the other chaps who've already posted, I've taken my Cerb ever since I've had it, and found it a fantastic vehicle to take. Last year my car was the most fuel economical in the convoy and the fastest (and the loudest!). It also gets a lot of attention from the French who love "silly" cars - sadly from Les Flics too .

i have done Les Mans several times and last year in the cerb, it was brilliant. there are a group of us from the north east, Aston, porker, mine was the only TVR and we meet up near Dover with Lads and Lassies in Caterams, XK8, GT2, Cobra and others from various parts of the UK and stop over for a curry then catch an early ferry or tunnel on the friday morning. We take the back roads down to Les Mans (fast as possible) to avoid the local Plod and make a good driving day out of it. on the way back (Sunday) we tend to stop over night a couple of hours north of Les Mans at a place called Bagnoles De L'orne for the final p**s up and a decent meal. The whole trip including ferry, camping, hospitality and hotels is about £250 plus of course petrol. If this is what you had in mind get in touch and i will put you on the E-mail list for next year if you fancy joining us. The more the Merrier! we normally start to organise things in January.

We travel in a group last Le Mans there was 13 of us from all over the country on of our group lives near donnington another bedford I,am in London.You will love Le Mans it is not just an event its an experiance if you have not been before it would be best to go with a group who have been a few times before as they will know all the best places to go.

We do something like this advance party go on wednesday we are trying to get houx camp site because it is the only camp site with numbered pitches so no need to rush down and try to get the best pitches on the other camp sites.

I go on Thursday with 2 other cars from dover to bolougne via speed ferries and get there mid day set up tents then go on the normally stay around the Le mans village thursday night and maybe tetrouge bar.go bed early hours of morning :silly; p----d

Friday get up breakfast go to arnague corner to meet other pisonheads head back to the chinese resturant to catch the red sparrows. back to camp get some food get tvr coaches into Le Mans town for the parade du pilots and go to our fav bar for some we was gate crashed last year by some birds called the hawian tropic girls they got better looking the more we had.back to the camp at midnight and let off some fireworks and have some more then to bed

Saturday get up food and watch some of the classic racing the have some more do the pit walk then the real fun begins the race starts we always book the granstands the atmosphere and noise when the race starts is electic and not to be missed.we then have food and some more we watch the race from various positions around the track arnarge at night is a must.bavk to camp for some fireworks and graban hours sleep.

sunday get up food see how our cars are doing as we have a sweep on the race.wander round the village and get some watch the end of the race after the race we leave and drive to rouen and stay in a formulae 1 have a shower then go to a resturant and eat some decent food you can only eat so many burnt buggers from the bbq have some more then back to the hotel for decent nights sleep in a bed.

monday get up food no drive to some hypermarket an squeze in as many bottles of wine and mobil 1 in the cerb as poss.Then drive to bolounge and back to dear old blighty.

I thought you were selling up/ buying something else??

I think we have seen you down there most years, but never actually stopped and said hi, this year we were more distinctive as we had a knackered front wing covered in bare fibreglass!!!

As has been said, the Cerb is a fantastic car for the LM run... hopefully this time I'll be insured for the weekend, so look out for an *even* slower/ restrained driven Blue Cerb. Did have to take the Smart once (which was awesome for different reasons) as the Cerbs clutch went, but its generally down there every year... oh, except the time it snapped a driveshaft out of a toll booth... - still managed to drive us back to blighty from that point and then it got recovered home, where we managed to sort it out in time for a sprint the following weekend.

classic le mans is probably worth a try. I personally found LE MAns to be very laddish ie too many english guys walking around 1/2 cut and being pratts.

Only had silly offers so decided unless I get a good offer I will keep it lets face what else can you get for the money that is better looking or as fast and I still get that silly grin even after six years of owner ship and with all the work I have done on it to get it right and I have just had the whole front end resprayed I might as well keep it.
