Spoke to an aerial fitter today about the different combinations of what i can do with SKY.

At the moment i have SKY digi box in the lounge but is it also wired to the other aerial points so what ever is on the box in the lounge comes out of the other aerial points too, useful when going to bed and a movie is on.

Ideal - i would have SKY+ in the lounge and then multi-room in the bedroom 1 and kitchen, but only pay for one room. So i would have to buy a digi box from ebay for the second room. Now this morning this guy said that i cant use the same card in 2 boxes as it will not work. Is this the case or was is getting mugged off.

Basically the card for the bedroom and kitchen can just be moved dependant on which room i am in. Does this work or not?

Also when a SKY engineer comes round can they make it so you can view what it on the main digi box from every aerial point?

Cheers

Cards are married to specific boxes... so each time to move about to get all channels and features on your subscription you would have to resetup the card-box relationship.

Pay the tenner for multiroom!

I sometimes use my sky+ card in another box upstairs (was multiroom, now freeview), works fine.

If you only intend on watching one channel throughout the house at one time then a Loftbox and Sky eyes would do what you want

I am assuming you already have loftbox style distribution, because you can watch the sky box from the other tv points in the house.

The clever way round it is to use a Loftbox Expander and DIP1. This will add the multiroom connection from the dish onto the cable feed that runs to the location you want your multiroom connection.

Basically the Expander 'diplexes' the Sat signal and the UHF signal togther and then the DIP1 splits it off again at the faceplate end.

We've always taken our card away on holiday with us and used it all over the place, even abroad, without any trouble when renting villas or houses. Should this not work?
