I have a chevy engine turning up on tuesday that has been built using a vortec 1996-2001 block with aluminium heads. Now I have been told that they are slightly different to the old SBC iron block engines and the intakes are a different fitment. I am looking to fit an EFI system straight onto the engine but will be turbo charging the engine, can someone recommend what type of EFI system I could use and where to get one from please.

If you want to learn and install your own EFI system, you could always Megaquirt it. But its not the best choice if you dont rate your own skills and patience at wiring and plumbing.

Emerald system seems to very flexible and adaptable, and Dave Walker knows his stuff.
Give him a bell.

Another endorsement for DW & Emerald here. Have personally fitted their system to Rover V8 nat asp, Xflow, Zetec and twin-turbo Alfa V6 motors. Couldn't hope to get better advice and service than those guys provide. DO expect straight and honest answers - they won't BS you, even if it's what you want to hear!

About to fit another to yet another Alfa V6, this time it'll be blown with an Eaton M112......although I plan on doing a back-to-back power run nat asp so I can get an answer to the old question about how much power a flappy air flow meter costs. Will drive the car to Norfolk on the original Motronic, do a power run, switch over to nat asp Emerald (removing all unnecesary stuff like AFM at that time) map & power run for reference and for future in case I don't like the blower, then plumb up the blower and re-map with some boost.

Well, it's sounds like a good plan!

Just a happy punter, no axe to grind.

Hi Bert

I run the Holley Commander injection system on my chevy engine which is also supercharged with a Procharger centrifugal supercharger. This system is available for use with vortec heads. You can buy it through Real Steel in the UK or buy it direct from the States from Summit Racing. There are other similar systems available from Edelbrock or Accel.

Have a look at my website to see some pics of my setup www.v8yes.co.uk
