Can you replace the cooling fans in situ?

Hi all,i'm doing a bit of work on a freinds Griff,and one of the cooling fans is u/s.I can see that it is held to the rad shroud by three or so nuts,but i'm wondering if the bolt is captive to the shroud or not.Can i just undo the nuts and remoe the fan,or will the bolts drop down and require rad removal?Cheers,Mike

If you slacken the nuts slightly on the fan and then turn the fan slightly anti clockwise you should be able to remove it without removing the rad

Great stuff,thanks very much.I'd only ever taken the whole lot out(twice),and that was a while ago in both cases.From memory then,i just swapped the whole cowling and rads over to the new rads,as one.

On my Griff the fans are held onto the shrouds with bolts and nylocks and the bolts go through holes in the fan moulding not slots.

Just hope and pray that the moulded in retaining bolts don't come loose when doing this... It is then a rad out job.
