My mums computer currently has a troublesome Trojan on it.

McAfee calls it Generic Downloader.c and its affecting st3.dll in the System 32 folder.

I've tried McAfee AV, Spybot S&D and Adaware. None of them have worked. Short of Installing and paying for another AV program, is there anything I can try?

And While I'm at it, My Norton AV keeps needing to be activated everty few days, it also has an Auto-Protect feature which seems to be permanently disabled. Everytime I try and activate it, I get told to see the Symantec online help database thing which is about as much use as a waterproof teabag. Any ideas?

TIA
Stuart.

Try the scan in safe mode

--or--

Put the hard disk in another PC and scan it 'offline'

AVG's paid version is good, although free gets the job done.
nod32 is good as well.
