One moment please while I don my flame suit, and, seeming as its cold I'll put on my lazy bastid use the search function overcoat as well.

I am now looking at a replacement vehicle for my E30 M3 having settled on a 964RS as my next steed I was looking forward to future Porsche ownership. However with Mrs R5 raising our new house budget by nearly 30k money is getting a bit short so I focused my attention to the 996 C2 but, with the Porsche warranty expiring at 9 years and the car I'm looking at aged between the 99-00 vintage it looks like time is soon to be called on the OPC warranty (as I'm lead to believe).

I really need to go for a warrantied vehicle as impending mansion ownership will render the finances crippled if un accounted problems arise such as total engine failure.

So upon the OPC warranty expiring, what is the best warranty to apply to the said vehicle?

And if it's not geographically viable and OPC is out of the question, what would you recommend (apart from prayer)?

I think at around £500 ish a year from Hartech the warranty serves a very good purpose and they also include servicing and MOT for that fee so its looking good especially if you get an RMS failure (rare I know) the seal is pence which I can afford I just don't want to be shelling out for labour.

go for it. cant imagine youll go too far wrong. baz hartech seems like a really geniune dealer/ service provider too, and almost certainly wouldnt openly try and weasel out responsibility for something on a public forum on a legal technicality. its a shame the same cant be said for all within this community.

I would absolutely go for a Hartech service plan (warranty) if I was running a Porker in his neck of the woods. From my understanding it offers more than the OPC warranty which doesn't include the servicing.

Personally I prefer to bank the money and take a hit if something goes wrong, however the Hartech method seems to include something of value even if nothing does go wrong.

All IMO of course.

Yes thats right, thought the gearbox had gone so I limped down to Geoff Steel racing and they diagnosed it as a slipped linkage, I specified a new linkage and shifter to be fitted when I picked the car up originaly to take away the slack it looks like it wasn't secured properly. Driving spot on again thank god, I love it when a potential £1000 bill comes to £50.

So apart from Hartech's warranty, and OPC - are there any other warranties out there worth looking at that don't require a 300 mile drive north?

rofl

ohh my, please no, no stop, please, im sure henry genuinly didnt realise the car was clocked thats why he said "had no other information confirming otherwise" (even though it was here in black and white on the forum which he visits evers 1.5 mis), OR front ended, not to mention 14 times winner of every rag across the globe known to man for the past few years or the fact that the car was (before it was changed back to original form, without 197 tank in the rear seat etc but prolly still had the longer 6th gear) a bit dodgy in any way at all, afterall hes a genuine guy in the biz with a reputation to uphold. . . . .

and its also funny how people got binned for dissing him last time, was that becuase he's a sponsor here?
