Bluetooth on laptop

I've got a laptop with bluetooth capability. Turned on. I've got a Nokia phone and a plantronic bluebooth headset, but turn on. How come they can't see each other? Looked and can't see any settings, the laptop has a devices list, it won't find any new devices and selecting 'discover all devices' or 'allow all devices to connect' does nothing.

I was hoping to use the headset for Skyping you see...

Any suggestions?

You need to make sure the devices you are trying to find are in 'pair' mode. For example to do this on my bluetooth headset when turning it on you hold the on button down for about 6 seconds it then flahes intermittent blue & red and makes a different noise then when on. Next go to find devices and try pairing again!
