I thought these were already in? I'm sure my theory test book includes questions such as, "Which of the following wastes fuel?" and "Which of these are economical ways to drive, pick two?" and the like. Unless the proposal is purely about getting aggressive and lifestyle-nannying questions in, like, "Which of these cars is better for the enviroment? Huge old lump of V6-powered scrap metal, or shiny new Prius?"

Personally, if they're going to rely more extensively on computers, I'd like to see some simulator exercises - motorway driving in heavy traffic, town centres with cyclist and pedestrian traffic, maybe even night driving. Basically, some of the things you can't reasonably expect to cover on a real-world practical test, where current "average" drivers are lacking in ability.

"Wedge added: “Is the journey that you’re making really necessary? And if it is, what’s the most effective and efficient mode of transport to use? It might be the railway, it might be a pushbike or it might be walking."

Well if you have to cover 1 mile but in 2 minutes then yea, a car is necessary. Maybe to many variables to the questions they might be asking?

I would use the bus alot more if it weren't so fking expensive. £5 for a 10 mile trip ffs
