How much for a new clutch on a Mk1 GT3
Discussion
My car (mk1 GT3) is in at the OPC getting treated for a slight coolant leak. Turns out there's a small leak on both rads so they're getting replaced. (thanks goodness for the warranty).
The OPC have informed me (an advisory) that the clutch is a bit heavy and is on it's way out (i'd wondered the same myself). Apparently it's about £1800 fitted by them.
As and when it goes, do I have to get it done at an OPC to keep my warranty or can i take it to an independent? And if so, any idea as to how much I could save taking it to a respected indie versus the OPC?
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks Fidgits, that's a bit closer to what I was expecting....
Any one done this and subsequently had a problem with the OPC warranty?
What with all these horror stories around I'm concerned that occasionally driving my car without two hands on the wheel will invalidate any warranty claims for years to come...

come on, lets not do this. your ruining it for yourself. the warranty is a reason NOT to worry, not something else to worry about.
enjoy it, please. others arent so lucky.

as long as its done proffessionally (i.e. not hammered into place with a sledgehammer by DucatiGary) you wont have any problems with the warranty.
Now as Nervy says, go and bloody enjoy it and stop worrying!

Sorry, i was joking about worrying THAT much- I guess that didn't come across.
As for enjoying it, I think my trip round scotland last weekend is testament to that.
Awesome roads, awesome car.
Highlights:
The open, flowing, lightly trafficked roads (parts of it are how i imagine the 'ring)
The howling precision instrument that is my GT3
Other road users moving out the way upon seeing me come up behind them
The scenery - wow
The comfort and practicality of the car(lots of miles, two up + luggage = no problem)
Lowlights:
Other road users that think overtaking is a crime
Car losing a bit of coolant - getting fixed now
having to come back to work

write it up, id love to hear about it. bet others would too

the only joy of life with RMS leakage is the thought that the clutch can be done at the same time
Not an issue you have to face of course
