you're probably thinking thats pretty reasonable.

its a quote for a new clutch unit for my ancient briggs & stratton lawn tractor wot i bought 3 years ago for £500

the £600 is just for the part (its a sealed unit) - they dont fix 'em anymore, just replace whole chunks. now that sounds familiar....

Get them to fix the RMS while its in pieces. Theyre a known weak spot on these new engines - check out all the web forums if you don't belive me.

The old aircooled ones never had this sort of problem.

Easy, stick a jag motor in your ride on mower, and you'll save £72 a year on maintenance.

Job done.

Many folk complain of understeer with the GT235. Simply jab the throttle prior to turn in, the front end will lift and you'll find it quite neutral. Alternatively Manthey do a suspension kit, but I couldn't justify it unless you're going to track it.

Turfmasters? I've got the same problem and that's what I'm putting it down to on mine.

will be doing something along those lines. it amused me however to recall that the last time i'd got a quote for works that was equal to the value of the machine in question, was when i took my old 944 to an OPC for some bits and bobs laugh i learned quickly!

not sure about the John Deere but mine's front wheel drive so that wont work. it is aircooled though

My Countax is the same, but I think it's down to how I set the geometry when I fitted a new rose joint to the steering (with a kitchen spoon & swiss army knife whilst stuck in the long grass that helped cause it t break).

I've never checked the ride height or camber, but I think it's down to way to much toe-out. I really must get round to adjusting it..........

It's a 16hp, 36inch cutting deck with electric cut-in and hydrostatic transmission, if you're interested..............
