Received wisdom seems to be its very difficult to get over £40k's worth. You might want to see if your mate can add you to his policy instead - it may work out cheaper that way.

As far as I'm aware, a vehicle cannot hold two concurrent policies, therefore, if it insured by your friend, you won't be able to add it to your policy as a temporary additional vehicle.

It would be far better for your friend to find out how much it is to add you to his insurance and go from there.

Hope that helps.

You seem to have a decent selection of mechanicals, so you shouldnt be a major risk as an addition on his insurance.
I occasionally need to drive my mates car, so went on as a named driver on his policy, and actually lowered his premium. Did think about ringing them up and explaining I wasnt a Sheila, but went to the pub instead.

Isn't Chubb Masterpiece home insurance? If not, where/how can you get it?

Jonny, I have Chubb insur for my cars. Slightly embarassing question as I should know, but does that mean I am insured on any car I drive, or is anyone insured under my policy when driving my car?

Many thanks

I thought it was the other way round,
when a car is insured with Chubb can't you let anyone over 21 drive it?

To clear up any confusion: The Chubb policy allows you to drive any car with the owners permission and not belonging to you fully comprehensively and any driver can drive your car with your consent again fully comprehensively anywhere in Europe.

PS Glad you liked the quote Francisb!!!

Jon

Why did you go with this broker rather than the one I gave you?

mcg123 - does this chubb policy cover N.I.?

If so, I'd be interested in a quote

ZPC wouldn't take me on due to age, regular insurance were 3 times more than what MichaelWard quoted me on
