I was stuck in traffic (25 mins or so very slow moving) on the way to get me car serviced this morning - The engine warning symbol flashed - Could this be down to the engine getting hot.

Also I asked the dealer to fit the new glass in the drivers mirror. Guess who have just rung to tell me the driver mirror motor needs replacing and they can't fit the glass (useless t**ts)

The glass is very easy to replace, you just need a little confidence as you pries the old one out. There are also instructions in the box though mine was two page two's banghead

If the motor is now broken then I'd suspect that the dealer has not read the instructions correctly and been a little over zealous. Get them to pay for a new one!

If the motor is still working and your planning on going to Monkfish tomorrow for tea & turbo and I’ll show you how its done.

I am absolutely fuming to the point of steam coming from my ears.

The Vauhall dealership have broken the bracket and the motor trying to swap the mirror so it is now hanging roughtly fixed (electric adjustment doesn't work) - and wait for it apparently it was like that when they got it in the workshop.

So if I can just pay £116.00 they'll order me a new bracket and motor in.........

I was absolutely gobsmacked.

Then they tried to accuse me of trying to fit the replacement mirror myself.

There final comment 'we're experts and have done dozens of these in our time' - never, never again.

I won't name and shame but they are on a funny shaped roundabout in Derby (Bloody shocking)

The only problem is I have absolutely no proof it wasn't broken (i know I am being lied to) I am ringing the service manager later (once I have calmed down).

I doubt that very much. These mirrors are like nothing I’ve ever seen on a Vauxhall and you really do need to read the instructions to find the magic spot to get them off. If they treated it like a normal Vectra or Astra then I'm not surprised its Busted!!

BTW: My local "experts" managed to cross the colour coded plugs in console the wrong way round and tear the leather in the gear gator!!

I can only sympathys with you.

To be hoenst they haven't been that bad up until now. The fact they stood there and lied made it all the worse.

Useless is how I now describe these now.

Like most all the good dealers are jsut to far out of reach for day to day running.

I am not giving theme the satifaction of repairing it - I have asked Roger at Monkfish (via e-mail) to source me the bits if at all possible - even if I have to drive a 160mile round trip to get it sorted.

I'm hoping Motorbodies in Luton are OK for smallish stuff as they are just up the road. Browns of Loughton are nearish too but I'll probably use Monkfish for servicing and anything major.

Anyone got experience of Motorbodies or Browns?

I'm talking to Browns' bodyshop atm on VXR_Daz's recommendation

Got my new passenger door window fitted at Greens today (after its altercation with a 9" housebrick in Wokingham last week) and a second service service done at the same time. Thoroughly professional, everything spot on, car cleaner inside and out on the way home than what it was when it went in. Well worth the 5 hour round trip.

No specific experience from Browns regarding the Monaro, I put the car in the hands of Greens, when it needs things doing.

But, I have used Browns extensively with other cars I have owned when I lived over that way. And I didn't have any specific issues with them at all. They were always quick and courteous.

BO55 has probably changed more mirrors on a Monaro than anyone in this country!

I had the 20k service carried out at Motorbodies without any problems earlier this year. I was charged £160, which was a lot cheaper than having my Omega 3.0 MV6 serviced. Not sure that I'd be totally confident about them doing anything too technical though.
