996 GT3RS at OPCs
Discussion
Anyone on here know previous history on the 996 GT3RSs currently in Cardiff and Reading OPCs. The Cardiff one has been around for a while - is it sound? Sorry, but no idea of the registration of the Cardiff car but the one in Reading is RxxxMTX is believe. Any clues would be greatly appreciated. Possibly interested in buying one of them.
reading one is a one owner car , 22k miles no pccb and up at 66900.
cardiff one is a one owner car 13k miles with pccb and i currently have beaten the deler down to the 63500 mark.
therefore reading is waaaay overpiced as in fact the dealer agreed with me and is going to sort out.
cardiff car is owned by a well known customer to them and is a very good example allegedly. reading i know nothing about the owner or history re tracking etc.
might be interesting to share stories off line you you are looking too... pm me if you want and we can talk!

Assume it's a Red & White car at Reading. Not bad as they paid less than £58,000 for it. Car has done a lot of track days. Needed tyres, brakes and stone chipped bodywork cosmetics. Has been maintained to a good standard by a Porsche enthusiast who now has a deposit down on a 997 GT3 RS. How do I know these things...I deny all knowledge of everything!
The car in cardiff was offered to me a while back well maintained but also tracked quit heavily belonged to a local dentist its had some paint on the front, stone chips etc, no horror stories as far as i know ,gave it a good looking over at the time would have been more than happy to buy it just decided to have gt3 non rs instead
If anyone wants any info on the GT3 RS at Cardiff, feel free to ask as I am the Sales Manager there, thought I'd stop lurking and converse with you good people
FYI the car is a one owner car and yes it has been used by the first owner on track aswell as for going back and for to work. The car is in cracking condition, has been fastidiously maintained and represents good value for money at £64,995 or whatever price you try to beat us down too

hmm... intimidation and bullying tactics from the opc's. but don't worry i won't tell a soul - if you sell me an RS with retrofitted colour coded centre console for £50k.

"Sorry I couldn't get back to you today RobT (one of those days) Will call you first thing tomorrow after speaking to Jay&(not so silent)Bob. See what we can do on price. Though think we are low as we can go on this car (as we always are..)"

Far too busy to call a customer back !
And a customer that`s only wanting a couple of grand off the cheapest GT3 RS in the dealer network at that, (indeed a car that`s cheaper than a lot of private sellers!). Do they not want business these days.... what ever happend to good old fashioned subserviant shop keeping. The next thing you know Tescos will stop replying to my emails offering £4 a bottle for their Moet, providing they deliver of course.
When someone is bidding a dealer in the nuts via email they will tend to get pushed back a little in favour of people who have turned up at the showroom with deposits in their pockets.
Welcome to the madhouse chaps.

seeing as these comments are aimed fairly and squarely at me, i thought i would take the opportunity to reply.
firstly, sarcasm of that sort is pretty poor show, lower in fact than the dirt on a sewer rats belly, especially when you don't have a fist clue on the facts behind the communication with the dealer. as a specific example no email trades have been done.
with regards to bidding the dealer in the nuts, that is my perogative as a customer, seeking to protect my interests as much as possible, regardless as to whether it may or may not be the cheapest car in the dealer network. let us also remember, that come trade in time, these same dealers are the first people to kick the customers in the nuts with fairly outragous buy back quotes. in fact with my gt2, they would not even bid me as it was the wrong colour... not the story obviously when i was buying the car...
i'm not having a go either at the dealer in question. they have to prioritise their business, which is only right and i am not concerned that they did not call me back.
secondly as a customer who has bought 3 911's from OPC's in the last 5 years, the chances are my details are on the system with the history of cars i have bought from them. from that perspective alone, they could take an educated guess that i am not a blagger or timewaster, so whether i choose to turn up to the showroom prior to wanting to agree a price is again my perogative. cardiff is a reasonable distance from me, and i'm not in the habit of driving down the m4 to kick some tyres. i like to have agreements in principle in place first.
having said all this, your comments henry have served no purpose whatsoever and have made no positive contribution to this discussion.
if you have nothing to say, shut up, especially if you don't know the facts.
your reply has shown you up in rather bad light i feel.
You're right to haggle hard, as you say, OPC dealers will bid you around £55k on the exact same car, the next day (if they bid at all). Anyway, the Cardiff RS been there for a long while but looks a reasonable price for OPC. Nice to see them posting here also. Good luck with purchase.
Thinking of going the other direction and selling my Mk2 GT3. Getting old so may buy something less involving like an AMG Merc for a while.
