When I previously had a domain elsewhere, there was a button I could tick to mark me as an individual and thus hide my whois info. No such option with register1, but I don't want to just change any of it to random stuff as it affects my account data with them. Any takers?

I'm sure there is a button there *somewhere*.. you're not looking hard enough

Unless of course there isn't.

This post really didn't help, did it..

Why not just use Register1's excellent support service - you could have had an answer in a few minutes?

Anyway, I think I recall Jamie saying previously on here that Register1 does allow you to do this so it's just a case of 'how' rather than 'if'.

I assume if I er, Falsify my organisation details, but leave admin and billing ok, then no one can get my address from a whois? Call me paranoid, but I'd like to be sure

Falsified whois details open you up to abusive registration claims if someone wants your domain, just something to be aware of...

Oh. Well, er, what do I do then, seem to have got myself in a pickle! All I wanted to do was hide my address from the prying internet

Just use our details, so long as you can be legitimately contacted via the published details then you should be ok.

Well I left the billing details intact, changed the admin and organisation details. Hopefully that should be all ok, I just naively assumed there was an opt-out like on my previous .co.uk address.

Thanks people!

Nah, only Nominet provide an 'OptOut' at present, the rest just try to sell you 'Whois Privacy' for $5 a domain..

and for that they... that's right... they let you use their details

Damn, I should charge $5

I have my details registered to Register1 head office - they allow this as long as you have a legit contact method i.e. email. Cheers
