Has anybody had the pleasure of owning both of these cars.
Im torn between a R33 GTR or a Tommi Makkinen, im not bothered about running costs as i've run a Cerbera for the past 2 years.
If a GTR is running around 400bhp which most seem to, and the Evo 300bhp which would be quicker as an all rounder ?

I would go with the evo simply because its physicaly smaller.

The Skyline would probably feel faster but I have no doubt that over your typical mix of roads the evo would cover the ground quicker.

Nothing technical from me, but the TME is such a scrummy car.

I would have said the exact opposite of this, if anything, it'll be the Evo in which you'll feel the sensation of speed more.

For me, it would be the GTR but I'd make sure it was an enthusiast owned one with tons traceable history (preferably with reputable tuners etc)

This question comes up alot and as I have owned both I can give my opinion..I had an EVO VI and kept it for 18 months and it was quick...It gets going alot quicker than the GTR but in the end I got used to how quick it was and started to want the Skyline again..It has been over 4 years now and I still have the GTR despite the fortune it has cost me and I mean a fortune I still have it..
But really they are 2 totally different cars and both stupidly quick for the money...Unless you plan to track them you will be hard pushed to get the full use out of both of them,it also depends on how you plan to use it..Will it be your daily driver or weekend toy..I think if I had the choice I would have the EVO to get me to work and the GTR at weekends..The Evo is just so easy to drive about, clutch is light and it has little or no lag the only bad thing is the tiny fuel tank and the AYC service every 4500 miles..The Evo also has 4 doors and a boot that you can use.
If you get a GTR keep £2000 in the bank to fix it..This advice was given to me when I got mine and I thought it was a load of rubbish as I went 18 months without a hint of trouble, then it went wrong and I would have been happy if it was only £2k to fix...I have done a fair few mods to get 500 bhp but fixing problems and the mods has cost around £16k..But they are not all like this..My mate has a GTR bog standard apart from exhaust and filters and the only thing he spends money on is servicing it..Maybe a lesson to be learnt there..Keep em standard..
