Noticed my lights weren't shining a particularly sharp light pattern on the garage doors so thought I'd have a looksee what condition the reflectors were in...

looked through the now obviously-mucky-on-the-inside(eh?)headlamp glass and saw.....

dead flies and other assorted sh*t - including a whole fecking daddy longlegs!!!

just how 'unsealed' are these headlamps?

Anyway, more to the point, can I ask you guys whether I will have to get the headlamps re-aligned if i just take off the glass to clean it and the reflector?

Take the glass off - clean the reflector EXTREMELY gently with water and then put the glass back on. No need to realign headlights.

The reflectors do have a tendency for the 'coating reflective stuff' (technical term) to come off extremely easily i am told

Why aren't they better sealed? Mine are a filthy mess too and thinking about making the HID switch but not sure it's a good idea if they are open to the elements...
