Can I use Griff 500 shocks/springs on a Chim 500? Seems reasonable but am I missing anything?

Reasonably so....I think that's what gives the cars differing handling characteristics.......but would defer to somebody more expert than I!

I think the TVR part nos are D0150 and D0103. Can't remember which ones which but i am pretty certain both models had the same yellow Bilsteins as standard

Are you talking about the springs, or the shocks?

One of those part no's is for rear shock and one for rear spring - I can't remember (been awhile) which is for which. The front part no's will start C0. I think there is a thread on it from yonks ago in the Chimaera forum.

I still think that both Griff and Chim 500 were the same

I don't know of any differences between the two chassis, I specify the same shocks and have sold the odd kit here and there without any reported differences.

They will fit but depending on which spec the Griff ones are and which ones originally on the Chim there may or may not be some difference. However, if the Chim ones are knackered, there will be a big improvement.

The springs were different BTW. You can't really go by part numbers as TVR had this habit of using the same part number for different versions as the suppliers changed etc etc.

If the price is right, then do it.

Ok cool, Just got one leaking shock on the back, there is a full set with springs in the adds, though it would be best to change both rears at the same time. Cheers guys.

Hi Groomvroom

Tried unsuccessfully to email you. I have an as-new pair of rear Bilstein springs and dampers from a Chimaera 500. E-mail me from my profile if interested.

Yep that's the exception that proves the rule.

It all depends on when the cars were built and what was available at the time. The parts list for 1995 has about 4 different shocks with 3 different springs front and rear. Later on the tended to be a bit more standardised but it isn't totally black and white. It all depends when the cars were made and what was fitted or to be more exact what was sitting on the shelf at the time - particularly with the last years of production.
