Quick question. When I turn off the car, the speedo and rev counter needles do a little dance, flicking over to the right hand side of the dial before dying.

Sometimes they go all the way, sometimes just a little jump. The only correlation I can see is with battery health. If the battery has a nice full charge I get a big jump (obviously using this as a measure of the batteries health is pointless, because its too late when you discover that it won't start again!)

Anyone have a more technical explanation?

Mine seems more dependent on dampness. If the weatehr has been wet then I get a jump, if its been dry - nothing.

Mine do the same. Isn't it just bad earthing? The same reason why when you switch the lights on the temp gauge goes up by 10 degrees, or that just mine?
