They don't seem to be advertising this, but Jessops can be persuaded to reduce their shop prices. I wanted a Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG for my Canon, but Jessops price was about £25 more than online. I found the cheapest online quote (price+P&P) and printed it off. Jessops matched it to the penny. Worth a try ...

I bought my D200 from Warehouse Express because it was a few pounds cheaper there. I rang Jessops and asked them whether they'd match the price so's I could buy it from them, and they told me they don't do price matching any more.

It looks like they don't announce they price-match any more but I think it's manager's discretion as they still seem to do.
Good pricing here on Canon and Nikon stuff

Problem with haggling at any shop is that you might get the camera price-matched, but it doesn't come with a CF card and if you don't have one, they are as sure as hell not going to crucify their margin as well on the card.
If you want them (camera + CF) cheap you have to be patient and buy them mail order

I bought one of these a few weeks back. Superb camera although it is my first DSLR so what would I know!
Bought mine from parkcameras.co.uk because they are local to me and the price isn't to bad if you buy the Sandisk IV 2GB CF card. Which due to them getting the price wrong on their website i ended up it for £70 (try finding that cheaper on the net!!!)

Got my 400D today - price: £320
...reason why..well traded in my old nikon d50 and 2 lenses - but the camera with 18-55 lens was £529.99 in the london camera exchange. I also got the 70-300 lens for £169.99 but the bloke gave me a 2gb mem card for £45 instead of £79.99 and he gave me a filter/lens protector for £5 instead of £14. So in totally i got the Canon 400D with standard lens + 70-300 lens + 2gb mem card + lens filter/protector for £320 . . . not bad!
