Xp upgrade undo files

Having upgraded my laptop to Xp I now find a significant amount of my hard drive taken up with undo install files.

As I backed up to DVD before the upgrade I don't want these files.

Is there a simple and safe way to get rid of them?

Have a look in control pannel/add remove programs, not 100% sure but I think they're listed in there.
