oooh a good thread, back then nothing much reall broke the mould. I was born near the lauch of the mk3 capri - no leaps forward just bodyshell changes. It was a further 6 years before the bosch k-jetronic would get wide spread use. The biggest leap forward in cars from close to my birth was the Audi Quatro - again I was quite old by then

I was quite a lucky kid as my dad was a director of Ellis Moore a Lotue dealer in Newcastle (mid 60's to mid 70's)
So apart from always having little Elans and +2's on the drive we also had a few extotica come to visit.
Ferrari Boxer and Dino's, Spyder (as orignial Miami Vice) + an orginal Shelby Mustang.
The Mustang accelerated that hard it used to throw the 8 track tape into the back seat.
