Can anybody recommend any good universal remotes which don't cost the earth?

How much do you want to spend?
Or more to the point, what do you consider "cost the earth"?
Or even more to the point, what value do you place on your laziness?

hehe

I bought one of these bad boys a few months ago for 20 squid, its got a learning thingy where you press your old remote into the new one and program it that way if there isn't a built in program for your gear. I believe its also got a macro mode but haven't tried that yet TBH.

Logitech Harmony

Miles ahead of the One4All jobs and reasonable money, they start at around £40

The place to look for reviews and info is www.remotecentral.com

Personally, I favour the Philips Pronto remotes.

Lovely devices, just ordered the new one.

However, they are a step up in price.

You get a lot more 'yikes HOW MUCH?' with a Pronto

Have they point the decimal point in the wrong place???

I think the Logitechs are more in my price range.

Harmony's are a pain in the ass unless you have bog standard kit and want to do bog standard stuff with them IME.

When not using a Pronto (or, now, a computer attached remote) I always found the One4All's reliable enough.

It's what I run, and I've very happy with it.

I have some rather odd kit, and it manages to drive all of it with no problems.
