Wrecked MkII Golf?

Iguana's got a couple but he still drives around in them
I would try German and Swedish or Eurocarparts for these items. What is the point in going to a breakers when the electric motors may be nearly knackered anyway? They are factor parts, and will be cheap enough at G+S etc. See their websitesby searching google.

Good point about the breakers. My first thought was not to waste too much cash on my 14 year old runabout, but it will probably be a false economy to buy old bits.
Thanks for the tip
Joining the thread hi-jack.
I have a ton of stuff from my mk2 in the back of the garage, have accumulated whilst modifying this my current mk2.
Rear Lights (3 sets), GTI arches, tailgate (soon), the entire dash, 6x9" pioneer speakers (not my style). Front grille, err half the stuff under my bed as well that I've forgotten is there.
A carpeted JL Audio sub in box just place in back of boot. and connect up.
Also if anyone wants to swap a mint condition standard parcel shelf for my custom stealth shelf (not the usual poor quality, looks same as original), then get in contact. Buyer collects. Can provide pics if you want.

It's to go in my work/hack car, that I am trying to mildly modify/improve on a tight budget - an '87 Scirocco 1600GT.
Have picked up from forums that a Golf 1800 8v GTi cam is a pretty straight swap, giving near 10bhp. Already fitted a downdraft Weber, will add a K&N panel (for what it's worth), and am looking into swapping the terrible standard 'rocco exhaust manifold (poss. GTI item again...)
Also intend to swap to vented discs, GTI servo, and 16v master cylinder along with braided hoses, in a bid to improve the heart stoppingly bad brakes.
If anybody is wondering "why?"... well for family-political reasons I have to keep this car for a a couple of years at least
but it's not worth spending much money on, so trying to make best of bad job.
Cheers, Phil
