Has anyone heard of this device?

www.durametric.com/

You can use it to check the engine hours / Rev. Range 1 & 2 activity amongst many other things.

Interesting kit for when you are buying a car, and I suppose being able to see fault codes and zero alarm lights might be handy too during ownership. Presumably essential to have something like this if you are a professional buyer, but would be enough to have someone who can lend you one when needed if you're an owner IMO.

Can you use it to check the real mileage on cars?

I doubt if it can tell you that as you need to go into vehicle data in the tester under DME and then it will show it up...

doubt it is that well hooked up with it.

They suggest that you can run a quick reality-check on the mileage by comparing the odometer reading with the "Operating Hours Counter" value... see here.===>

I just e-mailed them to check if if can be used to program the air-bag de-activation functuion but it can't. Stuff like this will remain something that has to be done via the all-singing-all-dancing PST2 or PIWIS for the time being/forseeable future...
