fixed rear wheel bearing today
Discussion
My noble is a low miler at 6000 miles - but it had worn the rear nearside wheel bearing ( i guess lots of roundabout action has caused it )
symptoms were a brake pedal that was a bit wobbly on first application after a hard bend and less travel on 2nd application - the disk was twisting causing the caliper to open
fitted the new one in under 2 hours and the tranformation was superb - I didn't realise how it had affected the handling !
if you suspect you also have a problem - get it looked at

i suspected it was a loose wheel bearing - but tightening it didn't work
i guess it had been loose for a while and caused it to wear
there is no torque setting as such - the bearing is a sealed unit, sorry no part number - the factory had removed it, but for what is worth it looks like identical to a ford fwd wheel bearing from a focus or mondeo
